Out of the mouths of babes

Out of the mouths of my 4 babes….

I gave Luke (age 3) a few gummy snacks. A couple of minutes later he says, “I need more, I lost mine.” We weren’t really sure if he lost them or ate them. George must have wondered this, too, because he put his hand on Luke’s stomach and said, “Let me feel your tummy. Yep, those gummy snacks are in there, I feel them! You didn’t LOSE them, you ATE them!”

Paul (age 6) loves to tell stories. After telling Ted one particular story of how he kicked the soccer ball so hard it went through the front door, Ted says, “Paul, I think you are exaggerating.” Paul says, “Dad, I’m in kindergarten. I don’t know what exaggerating means.”

We had Chinese food for dinner and that night, I had the worst dream. The next morning I told Clark (age 8) that I had a terrible dream that Ted and I were put in jail for being falsely accused of something (I think I’ve been watching too many movies). Clark said, “Mom, I’m SO glad you didn’t get my fortune cookie last night. The paper inside my cookie said that your dreams will come true!

Conversation with George (age 10):  “Mom, what other names were you and Dad thinking of calling me before you decided on George. “We considered Ethan…William… and Theodore the fourth, after Dad, because he is Theodore the 3rd.” George responds: “I wish you would have named me after Dad  – I want his name!”

These were FUNNY! I especially loved Clark’s fortune cookie comment 😆. I love that you’re capturing these memories because they’re so easy to forget. So precious.

I don’t have something funny to share from my boys but Jeff said something to a customer the other day that cracked me up! He works in technical support and had a customer who was frustrated by the long hold time before his call was answered. He asked Jeff if his hold time was so long because people were sleeping on the job. Jeff said no. This guy wouldn’t let it go. “I’m sure you guys must be sleeping. I waited on hold for a looong time. What is going on there? How come I had to wait? How many of you are asleep right now?? How come you’re allowed to sleep at work?” Jeff stood up, looked around the floor at his coworkers and said, “Sir. I’m looking around at the rest of the team and I can assure you that no one is asleep. We’re all awake. We’re all helping other customers. It’s a very busy time because it’s Christmastime.” Maybe not the BEST customer service on my hubby’s part but it just cracked me up!
